FIRST LEGO LEAGUE MASTERPIECE CHALLENGE

All teams/individuals must have participated in at least one FLL event during the 2023-24 Season and must reside within the state of Tennessee. Age brackets will be Ages 8-11 and 11-14. Competition is open to the first 10 teams to preregister per age bracket, and an entry fee of $20 for each robot is due at event check in (A single Organization will be limited to one team entry until August 1, 2024. Organizations who would like to enter an additional team will be placed on a wait list and used to fill any remaining competition slots on a first preregistered – first served basis until all 10 slots are filled.) Teams will be limited to 4 members per robot due to space limitations. Gate passes will be provided for team members and one coach per team for entries preregistered prior to August 1.

The competition will consist of ONLY the Robot Game portion of the MASTERPIECE Season. Mission models will follow the building instructions found at firstlegoleague.org under First Lego League Challenge and scoring will follow the Robot Game guidelines. Each team will have three 2.5 minutes rounds to complete as many missions as possible.

VEX IQ ROBOTICS FULL VOLUME CHALLENGE

All teams/individuals must have participated in at least one VRC event during the 2023-24 Season (not a requirement for adult teams) and must reside within the state of Tennessee. Age brackets will be Ages 11-14 and Adult. Competition will be limited to 10 teams per age bracket with 3 members per team due to space limitations. (A single Organization will be limited to ONE team entry until August 1. However, if all slots are not filled, an organization can request an additional team entry via a wait list, first preregistered-first served basis.)

Teams are encouraged to bring robots built during the regular season for the postseason, non-sanctioned event along with the necessary technology for programming. Teams should pre-register early and pay a $20 per robot entry fee upon arrival at the event. Gate passes will be provided for team members and one coach per team for entries prior to August 1.

Competition will be judged in accordance with guidelines for sanctioned events. Specifics of the game can be found at vexrobotics.com. The object of the game is to score as many points as possible with your alliance partner by scoring Blocks in Goals.

VEX IQ ROBOTICS FULL VOLUME CHALLENGE

Teams of 3 will be provided with GEN 2 VEX IQ kit and a minimum 4-hour window to build and program a robot to compete in the Full Volume Challenge. Teams will be responsible for providing their own laptop/tablet and software for programming. Wi-Fi provided.

A total of 10 Teams will be allowed to participate. Each school/organization will be able to preregister ONE team slot until AUGUST 1. Schools/Organizations that would like to bring more than 1 team may place the additional team on a Wait List to be used to fill any remaining slots as of August 1 on a first preregistered - first served basis. Teams preregistered by August 1 will receive gate passes for team members and one coach pass per team.

Competition will be judged in accordance with guidelines for sanctioned events. Specifics of the game can be found at vexrobotics.com. The object of the game is to score as many points as possible with your alliance partner by scoring Blocks in Goals.

EVENT GUIDELINES

Please note that your robot will be checked for weight and size specifications per league rules before being admitted. You will be given the chance to modify your bot’s weight and/or size if it exceeds the weight limit and/or the size limits. Bots that fail to meet these specifications by the end of the Check-In period will not be allowed to compete.

Failure to adhere to the following guidelines will result in disqualification:

  • Mechanical: Robots must be purely mechanical. No use of fluids, chemicals, etc. (aside from the batteries used to power the robot).
  • Dangerous: The robots must not contain parts that might be dangerous if the robot is picked up. For example, there should be no edges that are sharp enough to cut someone from casually picking up the robot.
  • Operation: The robot must not operate in a way that will have a significant chance of damaging another robot or a bystander.
  • Other constraints: No robot shall be at odds with the intent of good sportsmanship.
  • Construction: Bots must be built by contestants.
