First Lego League - Robot Rodeo

For Elementary and Middle School Teams

SATURDAY, AUGUST 23

Each game is limited to 12 teams per age bracket – 8-11, 12-14 or skill bracket (for Parade.)

Prizes will be awarded at the end of each game.

Teams preregistered by August 10 will receive gate passes for the coach and participating team members.

Entry fee is $5 per robot per game paid on arrival. ($15 max)

Game 1: 10 AM FFL Submerged Challenge

Teams will bring their Lego robots used in the 24-25 Submerged Robot Game. Two teams will compete in 2 ½ minute rounds. Each robot will participate in a minimum of 3 rounds. All practice will take place in the pit area. The winners will be chosen from the highest of their 3 scores.

Game 2: 12:30 PM ROBOT PARADE

Open to any brand of robot that has been assembled by an individual or team members.

No size restrictions but robot and float must stay within the track boundaries.

Two divisions: Remote and Autonomous (no age brackets) Participants can enter both divisions using separate robots (separate entry fee for each.)

Individuals/Teams will be required to build a “float” using Lego-style brick that follows the competition theme:

“Pigs Go Hog Wild at the Fair”

Teams will bring their own building supplies and have 1 hour to construct their float which will be propelled or pulled on the parade track by their robot. Floats must be assembled at the event. In the Remote division, robots will be driven by remote control. In the Autonomous Division, the robot must be programmed to travel within the parade route boundaries. Floats will be judged based on creativity, attractiveness, unique movements, stability, and ability to stay on the parade route.

GAME 3: 3 PM ROBOT YAHTZEE

Open to any brand of robot that can be driven by remote control.

Large dice will be scattered across the competition field. Players must gather dice for a period of 60 seconds, pushing them into their HOME BASE. At the end of the time limit, gathered blocks will be used to create sets of 3, 4, 5 of a kind or runs of at least 5 consecutive numbers that will be counted as points.

Set of 3 = total points showing on the 3 dice

Set of 4 = total points showing on the 4 dice

Set of 5 = 50 points

Straight runs of 5 dice = 40 points

Dice may not be flipped in attempt to get a specific value.

The face value of any unused dice that were gathered will be deducted from the total points in each round. This is a Round Robin tournament where each player will have an opportunity to challenge every other player in the tournament. After all matches are completed the total points for each player will be tallied to determine the 1st , 2nd and 3rd place winners in each age bracket.
