State 4-H Jelly Show

Eligibility
Open to any 4-H member in Tennessee

Divisions
  • Jr. Division: Grades 4th through 8th as of January 1, 2026
  • Sr. Division: Grades 9th through 12th as of January 1, 2026
Contests
There will be two separate contests in this show with awards for both.
  • Homemade jelly products
  • Jelly making video
Process for Jelly Products
  • A county is not limited to the number of 4-H'ers who can enter the show.
  • A 4-H'er can only enter one product per class. (Classes listed below)
  • Entries will be in 4 oz. jelly jars.
  • 4-H'er must submit 2 jars, one for taste and one for exhibiting.
  • 4-H'er use a permanent marker to write name, county, and process date on lid.
  • 4-H'er must also submit recipe used. (See Resources Section)
  • All jelly products and recipes need to be submitted to county 4-H agent by August 1, 2026.
  • Entries will be entered into SUPER.
  • Entries will be judged and exhibited in the 4-H/FFA Building at Wilson County/Tennessee State Fair.

Process for Jelly Making Video
  • A county is not limited to the number of 4-H'ers who can enter the show.
  • A 4-H'er can only enter one video in the contest.
  • Videos can be no longer than 8 minutes and must show the process used to make jelly.
  • Videos will be judged on accuracy, food safety, quality and educational value. (See Resources Section)
  • Winning videos will run during the fair as an educational promotion on making jelly.
  • Entries will be entered in SUPER.
  • Videos will be uploaded to teams.
Classes
  • Class 1 Apple Jelly
  • Class 2 Grape Jelly
  • Class 3 Other Jelly
  • Class 4 Strawberry Jam/Preserves
  • Class 5 Peach Jam/Preserves
  • Class 6 Other Jams/Preserves
Awards
  • Awards will be given to the top 3 placing jellies in each class per division.
  • A Best of Show Jelly will be awarded in each age division.
Premiums

 Jelly Products
  • Best of Show will receive a Rosette and $50
  • Each class winner will receive a Rosette and $25
  • Each class second place winner will receive a fair ribbon and $15
  • Each class third place winner will receive a fair ribbon and $10
  • Each participant will receive a fair participation ribbon
Jelly Making Video
  • 1st place video will receive a Rosette and $50
  • 2nd place video will receive a Rosette and $25
  • 3rd place video will receive a fair ribbon and $15
  • Each participant will receive a fair participant ribbon
