Harmonica Contest

The inaugural Dr. Humphrey Bate Memorial Old-Time Harmonica Contest brings acoustic harmonica players to the Gallinipper's Stage in Fiddlers Grove, playing in styles from before World War II: old-time fiddle tunes, country blues, folk melodies, ballads and breakdowns. It is mostly solo playing, with judges weighing stylistic authenticity, tone, tune selection and overall musicality. The contest runs rain or shine. Register in person at the stage if you want to play.
